Men’s Men’s MMA Heavyweight Rankings December 2020 Update: While the inactivity of the UFC heavyweight division has grinded many a gear, the hero firefighter from Cleveland, Ohio, keeps trucking along. Having finally dispatched his rival of two years in Daniel Cormier by winning two of three bouts, the road looks clear now for heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic to run it back with a retooled Francis Ngannou in 2021. The loss to “DC” remains Stipe’s only loss in the division in close to five years, rattling off eight wins in nine matches. With the heavyweight division close to cleared out, it remains to be seen how many more fights the 38-year old has left in him.

Moving down the ladder, the highly-anticipated bout between dominant wrestler Curtis Blaydes and master smasher Derrick Lewis was called off at UFC on ESPN 18 due to a positive Covid-19 test from Blaydes. That match should get remade for the next month or two and what a brawl that is lining up to be. The winning of that contest should be placed perfectly to compete against the winner of Miocic-Ngannou 2.

Jairzinho Rosenstruik is also waiting in the wings for an opening and a clash of titans goes down on February 6th at UFC Fight Night: Alistair Overeem vs. Alexander Volkov. The winner of that match may well see Rosenstruik or perhaps the winner of Lewis-Blaydes. At this point in 2020, predicting the heavyweight division in the UFC for 2021 is anyone’s guess.
