Men’s Men’s MMA Light Heavyweight Rankings December 2020 Update: It wouldn’t be 2020 without a few MMA surprises, and Jan Blachowicz may be one of the biggest. After the reigning, defending, undisputed and undefeated (save a few NC’s here and there) champion Jon Jones vacated his belt for a move up to heavyweight, the 37-year old Polish powerhouse won the UFC light heavyweight championship in his 35th professional fight. Blachowicz’s stoppage of Dominick Reyes was textbook and a potential superfight looms on the horizon with middleweight champion Israel Adesanya.

Glover Teixeira seems to be the odd man out at 205, as the wait for Adesanya means the 41-year old Brazilian on a 5-fight winning streak will need to kick sand for a minimum of 6-9 months for a shot a the winner. A fight with Dominick Reyes in the meantime may well be on the cards for Teixeira after his crushing defeat of Thiago Santos has left him with few options at the top of the heap at 205.

The story of Corey Anderson is a strange one – he has lost to Jimi Manuwa and OSP, beaten Patrick Cummins, Glover Teixiera, Ilir Latifi, Johnny Walker and now, after his surly departure from the UFC, Melvin Manhoef in Bellator. What’s more – he beat current UFC champ Blachowicz in 205 at UFC 191. We decided to place him third this month and we will see where he ends up, especially when he has just called out newly-crowned Bellator champ and Fedor Emelianenko protégé Vadim Nemkov.
