Men’s MMA Pound-for-Pound Rankings December 2020 Update: Jon Jones retains his place unsurprisingly as the #1 Pound-for-Pound fighter in the world. While he’s given up his light heavyweight championship belt on the back of 15 world title fights, he continues to be a force to be reckoned with in MMA competition. His current claims of bulking up to 240 lbs. seems to be paying off and in following in the footsteps of his NFL player brothers Arthur and Chandler, he seems to be finding his peak physical self not being limited to the 205 lbs. weight limit of the division in which he has cemented himself the undisputed king of. Next up is either a world-title fight against the incumbent heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic (#4), who himself remains high on the P4P list after his vanquishing of future UFC Hall-of-Famer Daniel Cormier, or Curtis Blaydes as “DC” himself suggested in a recent taping of ESPN’s “DC and Helwani” show.

Khabib Nurmagomedov resides in second place in the Men’s MMA Pound-for-Pound Rankings after beating Trevor Wittman-protégé Justin Gaethje in the second round at UFC 254 at Fight Island in Abu Dhabi. While “The Eagle” maintains that he is retired, the UFC brass seems to think he still has another fight in him while he pursues the elusive 30-0 mark in MMA competition and have yet to strip him of his lightweight crown.

Nigerian-born fighters Israel Adesanya takes the third spot while Kamaru Usman resides in fifth. Adesanya is fresh of a thorough beat-down of highly-regarded adversary Paulo Costa and Usman is on a 16-fight tear through the welterweight division, leaving the likes of Jorge Masvidal, Colby Covington, Tyron Woodley, Rafael dos Anjos, Demian Maia and Leon Edwards in his wake.
