Women’s MMA Featherweight Rankings December 2020 Update: So far, the only thing that can stop Amanda Nunes is “personal reasons.” The Lioness had to withdraw from her scheduled featherweight championship match at UFC 256 on Dec. 12 with Megan Anderson and while we await her return, we ought to just admire her dominance. 11-straight wins, the third fighter in the history of the UFC to hold and defend two belts (along with Daniel Cormier and Henry Cejudo) and cleaning out basically two divisions. How much more will the GOAT continue to compete remains to be seen, however in 2021 our fingers are crossed for a 3rd fight with women’s flyweight queen Valentina Shevchenko.

Outside of the UFC, Cristiane Justino aka Cris Cyborg, has been busy with her first submission victory of her career. Her rear-naked choke on Arlene Blencowe came in the second round of her Bellator debut and won her yet another world title. In January of 2020, she finished Julia Budd with punches and in the previous July won a decision against Felicia Spencer, a woman who just survived her bout with Amanda Nunes. Expect more of the same from Cyborg in 2021, finishing everyone outside of the UFC, and Amanda Nunes, with aplomb. Kayla Harrison out of American Top Team has been dominating the competition in the PFL and recently in Invicta FC thanks to a Covid-inspired contact waiver. While the champion judoka has some ground to make up in MMA, she has looked convincing enough to climb the rankings. Another PFL season looms ahead for Harrison, along with a potential bout with women’s boxing P4P great Clarissa Shields.
